Use case · Customer onboarding

Onboard new customers in the room they already use.

For customer onboarding in foyai, you keep the room your buyer already knows and add what they need to go live: a Customer onboarding plan dated forward from the kickoff, steps the customer owns and ticks off themselves, and a resources page. You publish the changes at the same link, the customer doesn't need a new login, and the Attio deal shows how far along they are.

The hand-off

Hand the room from your AE to your CSM.

  1. Swap the plan

Replace the close plan with the Customer onboarding plan and set the kickoff date. The customer's next steps are now onboarding steps.

  2. Add the onboarding page

A resources page of handpicked cards: setup guide, training videos, the kickoff deck, your onboarding lead's booking page.

  3. Publish changes

The customer keeps the link they already have. They see the new version once you publish it, and none of your edits before that.

  4. Send your steps to Attio

Your team's steps become Attio tasks with the room link. Complete one in Attio and it's ticked off in the room.

The Kestrel Payments room shows its Enterprise close plan with Contract signed ticked off, and the deal is closed won. The seller swaps in the Customer onboarding plan with a kickoff date of Nov 18, and each step is dated forward from it, through go-live on Dec 18. A Resources page adds a setup guide, an admin training video on Loom, the kickoff deck, and a Calendly booking link. The seller clicks Publish changes, and the customer opens the same link as before. Your team's onboarding steps become tasks in Attio.

The customer's side

Give customers their own onboarding steps to tick off.

  • They tick off their own steps. Intake form done, rollout email sent. When a step is theirs, the room shows it, and you can see it's late without asking.
  • They add the steps you didn't know about. An internal security sign-off, a change freeze. The plan then matches their rollout.
  • They find everything in one place. Guides, videos and the kickoff deck sit on the resources page, with embedded forms and booking pages from tools like Typeform, Google Forms and Calendly.
  • You see who has opened what. Which admins watched the training, who opened the setup guide, and who hasn't been in since the kickoff.

Whoever created the room also gets a daily digest of plan steps that are overdue or coming due.

Questions

Questions about onboarding in a room

Can a customer keep using the sales room after the deal closes?
Yes. The room stays at the same private link. Replace the close plan with the Customer onboarding plan, add an onboarding resources page and publish the changes. The customer sees the new version the next time they open the link they already have.
What's in the Customer onboarding plan template?
Five phases and nine steps, dated forward from the kickoff: kickoff call and intake form; workspace setup and integrations; admin and end-user training; rollout and go-live around day 30; and a 30-day adoption review. Every step is editable.
Do customers need an account to tick off their steps?
No account or password. To complete or add steps, the room asks them to confirm their email first, so every change has a name on it.
Should onboarding get its own room instead?
Either works. Keeping the same room means no new link and one history from first call to go-live. If you'd rather start clean, create a new room on the company in Attio from an onboarding template you've saved.
Does onboarding progress show up in Attio?
Yes. The deal carries the plan's completion percentage and the last buyer view, plan steps become Attio tasks with the room link, and completing a task in Attio updates the room.
